Plugins

Paper, Purpur and Folia servers can run plugins; Vanilla cannot. Open a server’s Plugins section.

Search the catalog (popular plugins from Modrinth and Hangar) and install a version. Shardkeep:

  • offers only versions made for the server’s software and Minecraft version;
  • installs required dependencies with it, at their newest compatible versions;
  • downloads the jar from its publisher and checks it against the catalog’s checksum before anything changes.

A version not listed for the server’s Minecraft version can still be installed if you insist; it is then marked unconfirmed. Folia servers take only plugins that declare Folia support.

Upload a jar that declares its plugin in plugin.yml or paper-plugin.yml (at most 64 MiB). Uploads are marked unverified: Shardkeep cannot check them against the catalog. A new upload of the same plugin replaces the old one.

Updates are never automatic: the list shows when a newer compatible version exists, and you choose when to update. A plugin that another installed plugin requires cannot be removed until that one is.

Removing a plugin keeps its configuration and data in plugins/<Name>/.

Plugin changes never restart a running server. They take effect at its next start, and until then the server shows RESTART_PENDING.

Jars you put in plugins/ with the file manager still load, as on any Paper server. The list shows them separately, and warns when one duplicates a managed plugin (the server would load only one).

If a plugin version you have installed is later withdrawn in the catalog (for example, found to be malicious), the server shows a PLUGIN_DENYLISTED condition with the reason until you update or remove it.
